For New Registrations:
For a new registration in Great Britain, we will take care of creating access to your HMRC account. This service is completely included in your registration fee.
For Takeovers:
If you already have an account with HMRC, we are unable to assist directly with gaining access. The legal representative is required to contact HMRC to request these credentials be resent to them. Follow these steps:
- Call HMRC: Dial 0044 2920 501 261.
- Provide Information: An automated message will ask why you are contacting them and your position in the business. Have the following information ready:
- VAT Registration Number: GB123456789
- Address: Street Name & Number, ZIP Code & City
- Last VAT Return Month and Box 5 Figure: XXXX
- Explain Your Situation: Explain that you do not have access to the HMRC BTA as it was set up by your previous advisor.
- Request Credentials:
- Request that the 2-step verification is removed from your account.
- Ask that the government gateway ID be sent to you by email.
- Request a link to reset the password on the account be sent to you by email.
By following these steps, you can regain access to your HMRC account and ensure that your VAT filings are handled properly.
